Holidaying in West Algarve

Though the entire Algarve is a beautiful place but West Algarve has something special about it. Western Algarve is composed of several beautiful towns, holiday villas, luxurious hotels, and several other places that are yet to be explored by the visitors. You will also find many upcoming shopping complexes and many other infrastructures coming up as a part of the urbanization process. In western Algarve there are several places like Praia da Luz, Cabanas Velhas, Burgau, Val de Boi, Budens, Boca da Rio, Figueira and many others to visit.

Praia da Luz is popularly known as the tourist town of West Algarve and has many holiday complexes. A perfect place to spend your holidays, it has several pubs, five star hotel and some really magnificent restaurants with great ambience. You can also enjoy water sports such as diving, and you can also watch the latest movies in the cinema halls in this region. Praia da Luz has the famous church known as Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz which got damaged in the earthquake but has been reconstructed now with the help of some locals.

The very famous Burgau beach of Algarve is also located in West Algarve where you can enjoy the boat ride and see beautiful lagoons; you can also chill at the bar and taste the local food from the restaurant that is present near the beach. To the west of Burgau lies another very beautiful beach of West Algarve which is popularly known by the name “Cabanas Velhas”. Also known by the name Fisherman's Beach or Quarry Beach, there are two hotels by the name of Dom Dinis and the Oasis here. Also present in West Algarve is the Tiffany riding centre which offers horse riding. You will get some of the beautiful horses in distinctive uniforms. You can choose from the various options available for horse riding and also enjoy the continental break fast that is provided on return to the Tiffany’s.

There are several other places in the South Western Algarve which are not so common among the visitors but they too can be places to explore during your visit to this region. Some of these places are Sagres, Vila do Bispo, Beliche, and Cape St. Vincent. Each of these places has some history attached with it like Sagres is considered to be a sacred place; Beliche on the other hand has chain of little forts that guarded the coastline against pirates during the seventeenth century. Offering so many beautiful places to the visitors, the West Algarve region is surely a place to visit during the holidays.
