Algarve’s Wonderful Climate and Its Health Benefits The southernmost region of mainland Portugal is popularly known by the name Algarve. Spread over an area of around five and a half thousand kilometers, it has around sixteen municipalities and there are approximately 400,000 inhabitants. The city of Faro is the capital of Algarve, while Albufeira, Lagoa, Lagos, Portimao, Quarteira, Silves, Loule, olhao. Tavira and Vila Real de Santo Antonio are some of the other cities of this region. Algarve has its administrative centre at Faro town and it is the international airport of both the regions i.e. Algarve as well as of Faro.
